Eagles SCM rise to the summit.

On the weekend just past the Senior Champ Men and Youth Champ Men travelled to a camp called "The Summit' just outside of Trafalgar. The aim of this was to test the limits and strengths of both the individual and the teams through a number of activities involving both physical strength, mental strength and teamwork.

The teams split Saturday morning and undertook 2 activities, one involving a walking across a suspension bridge over a lake. The "bridge" was literally 2 wires with planks of wood between them about a metre apart with players held up by a wire and brace above them. This really tested not just their balance but persistence and perseverance, especially as once you feel the task of getting back of was as, if not more difficult, as the bridge itself.  The other activity was a team one involving a number of tasks which all members had to complete, including log walking over a mud pit, scaling a 3-metre wall and crawling through a "wombat tunnel" involving a number of turns in pitch black conditions over around 30 metres.

Following lunch, both groups did some wall rock climbing activities, before the max challenge which could be explained as a tough mudder type course. Temperatures of 36 degrees and having to carry 5 car tyres the whole way across the course just added to the test. This involved everything;  obstacle courses, mud pits, army crawling through mud with barbed wire above, wall climbing, pit jumps, the wombat tunnel again and lots of running in between activities. Both teams did a great job with this and in just over an hour had completed the course twice, the second time quicker despite the fatigue factor.

Sunday involved a number of team meetings, where goals and expectations were talked about for the season. I am really excited by what we everyone was able to achieve on this weekend and confident it will provide both teams a great foundation to refer to during the upcoming season.

 Go Eagles!

Ross Moll - Head Coach of the Senior Champ Men.

"Don't forget, our VYCM & SCM are in action this Saturday night against the Australian Goannas and the Ringwood Hawks. Tip-off is at 6.10pm, gold coin entry with the proceeds going to the Goannas quest for international glory."
