The Buddy Program raises money for the Pat Cronin Foundation

On Sunday 19th November the Diamond Valley Girls Buddy Program participated in the Walk to the Valley as their first community project. The 8.6km walk was to raise money for the Pat Cronin Foundation which will go towards research and education to help end the Cowards Punch. It is important to the mentoring program, that is made up of our Junior Eagles girls, that they give back to the community, and over the last 3 weeks, they certainly have not disappointed.

The girls have worked hard promoting the walk via social media and handing out flyers seeking donations and encouraging people to join the team. Their goal was to raise $500 yet through their dedication, they managed to raise $930 in donations and $750 in team member registrations. As a result, the Eagles marched in a flock of 30 accompanied by State Member for Eltham, Vicki Ward or (Vickstar as she became affectionately referred to by the girls).

Buddy Program coordinator Zoe Carr is ecstatic about the girl’s participation and results.

“When we started this program, we wanted to make sure that girls within our Junior Eagles felt supported and could gain valuable information and experience that’s not just about basketball. When the girls said they wanted to participate in the Walk to the Valley, I never expected that they would achieve the results that they did. I could not be prouder of the girls for their efforts and sense of community responsibility. We are so grateful that we have such wonderful, caring kids within the DVBA.” Carr said.

If you missed out on the chance to support the girls and the Pat Cronin Foundation, never fear. You can still donate via the link below.
