The Salvation Army or SALVOS have been fighting injustice and inequity in Australia for 138 years.

The Red Shield Appeal is a huge source of income for the Salvos which we need to provide the assistance we give. The Salvo’s don’t work alone; we have the support of millions of Aussies who regularly and generously donate money, time and resources. We work in the areas of Family Poverty, Substance Abuse, and Homelessness to name a few.

The Red Shield Appeal is an annual event where tens of thousands of ordinary Aussies hit the streets, intersections and shopping centres to collect desperately needed funds. These funds are only used for our social work.

We desperately need teams of volunteers to assist with intersection collection. It’s an easy few hours, in the fresh air, with professional resources. Ring 9434 6990 if you want to field a team.

The Greensborough Salvos have a Faith & Community Centre in Briar Hill. This Church is celebrating 50 years in the area this year. They provide a range of services: Emergency Food Assistance referral, Positive Lifestyle Program, activities for Children and Youth including a great Youth Group. We also have activities for older folk to meet other like-minded people, called Triple L’s [Lunch, Laughter, Leisure]. We also have Kids clubs starting soon. On top of this we have a blend of Worship on Sunday to allow people to connect with God and bring focus and clarity to their life.

Each Saturday we have a community Jumble Sale from 8 – 12 midday, you can enjoy a free coffee and a donut or pancake and connect with our Faith & Community Centre volunteers.
