AFL T RMS GRAND FINAL RECORD 2012

Welcome to the RMS Engineering and Construction 2012 Grand Final at Tony Ireland Stadium. A special greeting to Michael Conlan AFL Queensland CEO, Craig Starcevich North Queensland Development Manager, Mayor Jenny Hill, Sponsors, Life Members and the affiliated clubs, coaching staff, game day volunteers, and most importantly the players, to this memorable clash between the Hermit Park Tigers and Thuringowa Bulldogs.

AFL Townsville is conducting a VIP Day in the function area and has reserved an area in the grandstand for those invited to watch the games today, so I ask all footy fans to respect the hospitality the League is giving to our sponsors and guests. There is an all day program of Grand Final football to be enjoyed by everyone at Tony Ireland Stadium, and there is a volunteer group around the ground to answer any inquiries on the great spectacle we will witness for the RMS Premiership Cup.

Thuringowa Bulldogs are defending Premiers against the Hermit Park Tigers in today’s senior game and Hermit Park Tigers Reserves are also looking to go back to back, and it is a testament to both clubs depth through their programs implemented over many years. There are many players in both clubs that have been developed by the Bulldogs and Tigers through the junior ranks, and the reward is paying off today to those players. The undefeated Bulldogs have been pushed to their limits a number of times this season by the Tigers, and that are only a guide to what will transpire this afternoon. The run and spread tactics used by Tigers to counter the tall timber and silky skills of Bulldogs is a salivating and intriguing battle that will unfold today. Or will it? Coaches Sanson and Gibson were both coy on their approach to Grand Final outcomes at Rydges Medal count Monday night, and the inference is of two very well prepared teams to give their all on the 3rd Saturday in September.

All the best of luck to all team groups today from AFL Townsville .
