Reg Grey * (1975)

Reg Grey was initially involved as a delegate from Enfield Rovers going on to fill a number of roles with the Association.  After a number of years in various committee and sub-committee roles he eventually served for some years as President subsequently being granted Life Membership for his services to the Association.  His committee activities were not his only role and for a number of years he coached Association representative teams, some of them to Metro and State Championships.  His best known ‘graduate’ was Socceroo, Ernie Campbell.

Reg's involvement was from early to mid sixties through to mid to late seventies and it was likely the award was conferred in the mid 70s.  He was a contemporary of people like Bill Brackenbury (later years), Keith Andraeson, Harry Friday, Fred & Peter Corben, Frank Broughton, Tony & Grace Martin among others.  Along the way he mentored a number of aspiring administrators including Ian Holmes, also a Life Member.  His Association Life Membership was complemented by Life Membership of Enfield Rovers where he was a founding committee member in 1962 going on to serve in many roles including as President for some years.

Reg passed away in Concord Hospital in the early hours 23rd February 2012 following a long illness and is survived by, Son Geoff, and Geoff's wife Roz, grandchildren Rob, Steve and Gillian and granddaughter Sarah Jane.
