At its Annual General Meeting on Monday 27 November 2006 the Canterbury District Soccer Football Association bestowed Life Membership upon Charles Tama for his tireless work in support of support of football within the Association over many years.

Charles has been the President of the Enfield Rovers Soccer Club for the last five years. For over ten years he has held various Execuive Committee and sub-committee positions with Enfield.

For the last fifteen years he has served on the Judiciary panel of the Canterbury District Soccer Football Association. For the last ten years he has served as Chairman of the panel.

For the last three years he has served on the Executive Committee of the Association as an Executive Committee member.

During 2005 he seved on the Disciplinary Committee of the Association.

In 2005 and 2006 Charles, together with his wife Vivien, organised the Annual CDSFA Ball.

In 2005 Charles was one of a small group of people who campaigned passionately to secure Pratten Park as the first ever home ground of the Association. The proposed redevelopment of Pratten Park by Ashfield Council will turn the ground into a major football facility for many years. Canterbury will enjoy the facility for the next nine years under the terms of a long term lease.

During 2006 Charles was a driving force behind Canterbury applying to Soccer New South Wales for a licence to run elite women and girs in the elite football competition conducted by Soccer NSW. He was instrumental in committing the Association to exploring the possibilty of moving forward jointly with APIA Leichhardt Tigers to create a pathway for boys into youth league with Tigers.

Charles is passionate about football. He has been motivated by a desire to effect a positive role within the Association, in particular amongst junior players.

His expressed aims and aspirations have always been to see the Association grow into a strong modern body, going forward, presenting the best possible opportunities for all junior players, male and female.
