Round 10 Preview: Women

By James Woite

Mavericks (4-5) v Warriors (6-4)

The Mavericks and Warriors will continue their respective finals pushes with a head-to-head clash AT ADELAIDE HILLS. The Warriors were able to end a two game losing streak with a 77-43 win over the Lions in their last match. The Mavericks will be hoping it is their turn to avoid a third consecutive defeat, having gone down to Sturt and Norwood in their last two games. This series was split in 2014, with the away team winning each time.

Flames (11-0) v Lions (0-9)

AT MARS, the winless Lions will enter the building of the unbeaten Flames. The Flames beat Forestville 74-51 in their most recent game, while the Lions were downed by Woodville. The Flames comprehensively blew out the Lions both times last season.

Tigers (3-6) v Panthers (6-5)

The Tigers started the season in strong touch, but have slowly drifted away from the top five. This week’s opponent, the Panthers, have won six straight ahead of their match AT MORPHETT VALE. The Tigers’ last match was against North – a 66-86 loss. The Panthers’ last match was also against North – their 65-60 win marked a 34 point turnaround from their last meeting with the reigning premiers. The Panthers went 2-0 against the Tigers last season.

Sabres (6-3) v Rockets (7-3)

AT PASADENA will be the Grand Final rematch – the Sabres looking to get some revenge on the Rockets in the Match of the Round. Each side picked up in 2015 where they left off in 2014, but both teams have been on the losing end on a regular basis in recent weeks.

The Rockets’ defeat to South on May 20 was their third loss in five games, while the Sabres’ win over West a week earlier was just their second win in five matches. The Rockets and Sabres met four times in 2014, with a 2-2 split the final outcome.

Eagles (3-7) v Bearcats (3-7)

The Bearcats and Eagles will each be chasing win number four AT WAYVILLE. The Bearcats went down to Sturt 69-73 in their last match, while the Eagles are coming off their second loss to Norwood this season. The home team won each match by five points in the two meeting between these sides in 2014.
