Pies unleash the Farcich factor
Pies unleash the Farcich factor
If the undefeated Central’s were looking for the icing on the cake they have found it with the return of Kyle Farcich from a long term knee injury. Farcich lined up at full forward Wednesday night and single handily destroyed the Bulldogs with 6 goals. Worse still North were forced to push playmaker Jordan Vella back to mind the bigman ...with limited success!
Central’s dominated the first quarter scoring 7-2 to 1 point with Sean Power, Jack Roberts, Jason Maslet & Jesse Dwyer running amok through the midfield. Behind centre Captain Lachlan Jenkin and Mason Hunt rebounded the rare North attack. For the next 3 quarters Central’s only managed a further 7 goals whilst North chipped in with 2. Jake Gepp was also back for the Pies and snagged 3 majors whilst Ethan Williams was also back after a early season injury saw him miss several weeks.
North’s named 25 but only had 15 on the park, and the lack of players has meant their season, in the under 18’s, is on life support! Their regulars, Borlace, Sheargold, Spangler & Hicks tried their hardest, but 15 will never beat 22. Injuries have certainly impacted on the North under 18’s but credit to the lads who keep turning up and having a dip!
Final Scores Centrals 14-12 (96) defeated North 2-4 (16)
In the late game West and South played out a high standard free flowing game with both sides playing some excellent football. West dominated the first half to lead 7-8 (50) to South’s 1-6 (12). In attack West played Callum Rosewarn out of the square and his marking and leading were excellent, I trust the word filters back to the A grade Coach as Rosewarn looked very much at home after playing most of his footy at CHB. His 4 goals and BOG status topped off a great night! For West its senior players all played their roles with Liam King also lively in attack to half time, whilst Heath Harris, Cohen Pettitt and Nathan Kickett all had their moments.
In the second half the Roos at least got the scoreboard moving and scored 6-6 to West’s 7-3. A comfortable 14-11 (95) to 7-12 (60) win for the Robins on the night but the Roos will still fancy their chances come the finals. South’s Riley Schorn continues to impress all with his hard running and disposal whilst Kurt Rolton added a long goal to his resume this week. Luke Lines and Mitchell Henderson had solid games whilst Bailey Treloar, Tate Banning, Nick Brown and Brody Sanderson are good contributors every week.
West continue to over use the ball with several of their senior core handball happy. A more direct approach to goal embracing the old fashioned one handball one kick ratio will achieve higher scores and with it less effort, as time and time again the “running around in circles” achieves no result!
So with 4 rounds before the finals Centrals are certain starters and West look the goods also!
