Local Board Chairman, Peter Nash, spent yesterday seeing first had the new Skoda Stadium when he joined fellow Chairman of AFL NSW regional zones at a function prior to the GWS v Collingwood game.
The opportunity to listen to a GWS Board Director discuss the growth of AFL in the Sydney market was invaluable and whilst the scoreboard is measured in wins and losses the GWS are taking GIANT strides off the field to grow the code in Western Sydney.
The opportunity to discuss issues with other regional chairmans was invaluable and in many respects it highlights just how easy we have it in Broken Hill. The fact that all our football is played in Broken Hill simplifies our operations compared to other regional centres that have travel issues every other week.
It also helped to reaasure me that Broken Hill is doing many things very well, and that in general terms we do not need to re invent the world, just keep challeging ourselves to find better ways to work smarter.
The GWS and AFL NSW were excellent hosts for the day and all the Chairmans and partners had a magnificent afternnon and despite the picture ....I barracked quietly for the PIES!
