Broken Hill had the clear advantage having already established a Women's competition for the 2012 season, wheras the EP squad had been "fast tracked" in only 6 weeks. Clearly the EP girls all have sports back grounds as there marking skills were superb and their tackling pressure unsettled the BH team in the first half.
BH also struggled with the unusual wet conditions and the softer playing surface and on numerous occassions they over used the ball in the first half.
Planning is already under way for more inter region matches with details to be released in the next couple of weeks.
Both regions were quick to acknowledge the fantastic support of the game by the SANFL and in particular Emma Gibson in her role as Female Football Co ordinator.
Pictured is two of Broken Hill's key players in the rooms before the game. Lyndsay Kubiak (left) was a key defender across half back and Erica Schmidt, who captained BH, received the Best Player award from the Coaches & Umpires for her game in the midfield.
