MELBOURNE has selected Glenelg midfielder Nathan Stark with its first selection (No.3 overall) and Mitch Clisby with its final selection in the NAB AFL Rookie Draft.
The 18-year-old was a good performer at this year’s NAB AFL under-18 championship, averaging almost 19 disposals per match.
He is aggressive at the contest, particularly in one-on-one situations and is a good tackler.
Stark is also a good decision-maker and some have likened his style of play to new teammate Jack Viney.
Clisby, originally from Broken Hill in New South Wales, was recruited from North Adelaide. He is close mates with Adelaide forward Taylor Walker, having grown up with him.
After initially being overlooked in the 2008 drafting period, Clisby showed some strong form as a running half-back with North Adelaide in the SANFL.
The 22-year-old has flourished under former Port Adelaide star Josh Francou, who coached him this year.
