Club Numbers and the Future of our Association

Now that registrations have closed the Clubs and the Executive are working hard together behind the scenes.

Last night all clubs met with the intention to even the competition to ensure that basketball is not only healthy today, but is in a viable position moving forward.

As emailed in early September, this means team numbers will be capped and only one team per club will be allowed in each grade.

Due to our online registration process this means clubs are having to ask some players who have registered for them, to move to another club.

We are fully aware that this may cause concern for some families, but we ask that you understand that these decisions are tough for all of us. Please be open and respectful to the club representatives whilst having these conversations with them.

This is an ideal time where we can remind ourselves on why we participate in sport.
It is a place where we can have fun.
We can meet new people and make new friends.
We can learn about respecting ourselves, other in our team, coaches and referees.
We can challenge ourselves and learn new skills.
We learn about leadership, being able to listen and follow instructions.
It is good for our health and wellbeing.

In the end it doesn’t matter what colour top you are wearing. A good competition allows all players to be able to be on court, have teams they can play against and compete to the best of their ability.

We trust that you understand that these tough decisions we are making this year, we believe, will have a positive impact on our Association not only this year, but in many years to come.

Regards
Port Lincoln Sharks Basketball Association

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
