Players Code of Conduct

Players Code of Behaviour

  •  Play by the rules.
  • Never argue with an official. If you disagree, have your coach approach the official during a break or after the competition. Any approach must always be conducted in a reasonable manner.
  • Control your temper. Verbal abuse of officials, sledging players, deliberately distracting or provoking an opponent are not acceptable or permitted behaviours when representing Toowoomba Basketball in any competition or event.
  • Work equally hard for yourself and/or your team. Your team’s performance will benefit and so will you.
  • Be a good sport. Applaud all good plays regardless of whether they are made by your team or the opposition.
  • Treat all participants in your sport as you like to be treated. Do not bully or take unfair advantage of another competitor.
  • Cooperate with your coach, team mates and opponents. Without them there would be no competition.
  • Participate for your own enjoyment and benefit, not just to please parents and coaches.
  • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion.
  • Respect the belongings of others.
  • Do not act in a matter that is offensive to others, this includes the use of swearing or offensive language.
  • Show appreciation for volunteer coaches, officials and administrators. Without them, you could not participate.
  • Communicate any concerns/disputes/complaints or other issues about players, parents, coaching staff, team management or any other person by speaking to your coach or another member of the team management. If your issue concerns the coach or another member of the team management, then you should contact a member of the Toowoomba Basketball Association Management Committee.

The TBA Management Committee reserves the right to impose any disciplinary action it deems appropriate for any breach of this code, regardless of when the Management Committee becomes aware of the breach, whether at a competition venue, training venue, team accommodation or any other place. Disciplinary action may involve, but is not limited to, issuing a warning, asking someone to show cause, removal of any person from involvement with the team, sending the player home, suspension from participation in future competitions or carnivals or placement on good behaviour bond. Any action taken may be done without refund of any monies paid.

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
