The AFL Cairns Womens League will shortly be starting their 8th season - story provided by Mel Smith.
The AFL Cairns Womens are set to begin season #8 this weekend with 5 teams battling it out to win the illustrious Premiership Flag and promote the development of Womens AFL in the Far North.
Last years winners, Souths Cairns Cutters are keen to hit the paddock with a few new faces as are the North Cairns Tigers,
Centrals Trinity Beach Bulldog Babes and Manunda Hawks. The AFLCWL also welcomes City Cobra's Womens club back to the league after a couple of years out of the competition. This will see each club have a bye out of the three round fixture, with 15 games being played in total before the final series which will kick off in March 2010.
Round 1 - Game 1 this Saturday 14/11/09 will see Centrals Trinity Beach Bulldog Babes meet the Manunda Hawks at Crathern Park, Trinity Beach and City Cobra's up against the reigning Premiers South Cairns Cutters at Holloways Beach Sporting Complex. North Cairns Tigers have the first bye. Both games are scheduled to start at 5pm. We would to remind all supporters that NO ALCOHOL is to brought into any of the grounds hosting Womens AFL games.
