On Saturday morning league leaders Balmain took on cellar-dwellars Auburn. The result was with Olivia Hall finding a new role as forward leading the way with 4 goals as Balmain 14.18.102 to Auburn 0.1.1.
In the beautiful South Coast, UNSW-Easts Stingrays took on Wollongong Saints at North Dalton Park with your web editor guest-umpiring in his one and only performance for SWAFL for season 2011. The Stingrays dominated the first half with 6 goals led by Ciska Van Schalkwyk moving beautifully to put herself for some great grabs at CHF.
In the second half, the Saints tightened up and with a goals to Stephanie Power and Stephanie Lavender, the Saints started to dominate field possession. In the end it was the Stingrays with a comfortable victory built on their first half efforts but knew they had been in a challenge. For the Saints, they got confidence that they can compete but it shouldn't take two quarters of footy to occur first. Best were Jenna Linehan, Jemma Still, Ciska Van Schalkwyk and Eliana Bartlett for the Stingrays whilst for the Saints Stephanie Power, Yvette Lewis and Jessie Mulholland were good.
Back at Mahoney, Mac Uni hosted Sydney Uni and the Bombers had a comprehensive victory with 12 goals in the second half completing the platform laid on in the first half.
The Wolves hosted Netown Breakaways and it was a victory for the Wolves for a long time score was 6.4.40 to 4.0.24 (i think!).
The final game had Southern Power hosting Bondi Shamrocks out at Warwick Farm and it was the first victory for the Power over the Shamrocks in SWAFL victory 7.7.49 to 0.0.0.
Last week I tipped 4 out of 5, my tips for Rd 7 are Newtown, Easts, Balmain, Bondi and Sydney Uni.
Good luck to all in the NSW State Team, you can keep up to date with the progress of the NSW State Team on this website.
