Thanks to the generosity of Wollondilly Knights AFL Club (in particular Russell Andrews) who play in the South Coast AFL, it will be a memorable road journey for the Balmain Dockers (Grand Finalist) and UNSW-Easts (6th placed in 2010). The two SWAFL Clubs will be taking on two Canberra based sides in the competition.
In the morning the Junior Knights will be having their trials from 8 till 1230pm followed by the senior Wollondilly Knights who will be playing the Camden Cats from AFL Sydney Competition from 1230pm till 2pm.
UNSW-Easts Stingrays will then take on ACTWAFL Grand Finalist Ainslie at 2:15pm playing for 4x15 minute quarters.
The second match will be the Balmain Dockers taking on ACTWAFL Semi-Finalist Belconnen Magpies at 3:45pm.
Both the women's matches should be eagerly anticipated to find out the internal skill level and teamwork within the clubs as coaches try to get some game experience for their rookies and fine-tuning their setups.
Assistant Coach Lancelot Yu from the Belconnen Magpies said "We are looking forward to the challenge against quality opposition. With the Magpies having come fourth last year, we believe this is the year we need to step up a level if we want to challenge for the title. We know that Balmain will be hungry to go one-step further than last year in the SWAFL competition, so to play the Dockers in our second preseason match gives us a pretty reliable indicator of where we are at heading into our regular season. To be competitive, we need to be at the very top of our game."
P.S. For those who forget to vote, Bargo has a polling station in Radnor Road, Bargo so you can cast your absentee vote.
If you have a preseason match, feel free to send the details to the editor who will happily put up the details.
