On Friday Night, Energy Australia decided the outcome of the match when the lights went out earlier than expected due to an electrical fault during the halftime/3rd quarter between Newtown and Bondi at Mahoney. Under AFL Law 10.6.2 as more than half a match had been played, the result stands.
On Saturday, Southern Power accounted for a brave Macquarie University Warriors with Lauren Hodgson and Brittany Day top scoring with 2 goals each. In the match of the round Sydney University and Balmain had a scintallating match with the Dockers getting over the line by 3 points from a fast finishing Sydney University Bombers. Belinda Pride top-scoring for the Dockers with 3 goals.
The UNSW-Easts Stingrays continued their good form and took out the Compass Cup in six years over the Western Wolves at UNSW Village Green to win by 59 points. Finally the Wollongong Saints had their first win over the season over newcomers Auburn to win by 67 points with Sophie Lavender kicking 4 goals.
I got 5 out of 5 right for Round 2, so my tips for this weekend are: Easts, Sydney Uni, Balmain, Bondi and Southern Power.
All opinions are of the editors and not of the league.
