The Motel 98 QBL Pre Season Blitz will take place at Hegvold Stadium on Saturday 18th April and will include teams from Rockhampton, Mackay, Gladstone and Bundaberg.
RBI Operations Manager Jamie Boon said, âThe Motel 98 QBL Pre Season Blitz is a one day tournament that will provide the Stadium Nightclub Rockets and the Hogâs Breath Café Cyclones with an opportunity to test and tune against teams from Mackay, Gladstone and Bundaberg. While important to the preparation of both our sides it will also give the Rockhampton fans an opportunity to see some of the new recruits for both teamsâ.
âIn addition to seeing the new faces that all the teams have to offer a highlight of the tournament should be the participation of four WNBL Championship winning Canberra Capitals who will turn out for the new teams this season. The Cyclones have added Abby Bishop to their roster while Mackay have signed Marianna Tolo, and Port City Power recruited arguably the best back court in the nation with Jess Bibby and Nat Hurstâ.
âThe tournament will have every team play each other once in a round robin format with the team that wins the most obviously taking bragging rights into the season proper. It will be an up tempo style of basketball with running clocks throughout which will encourage the more free flowing gamesâ.
