SBL GAMES FROM 10AM
The Pirates had three wins from the four games with the DLeague girls playing well to get their first win and the DLeague men icing their game with some clutch free throws in the dying seconds.
Injuries has again been the Pirates curse in the womens QBL campaign so far this season with another key player Tarina Jones going down mid week. The girls fell short while the men had a comfortable win.
The crowd was treated with a high flying alley oop dunk from Kenny Barnes off a sweetly timed pass from Ryan Vines. Kenny produced a similar highlight in last weeks win against the Brisbane at Auchenflower.
Pirate captain Nate Neisler was awarded his 100th game pennant before the game. Our next generation of Pirates played at half time featuring, future stars from the under 10 Runcorn Rockets and the Algester Hawks and long serving member James Carter was recognised for his contribution to the club with a Lifetime Acheievement Award.
Next week the Pirates host Bundaberg at the Pirate Ship on Sunday at 12.00 noon (women) and 2.00pm (men).
The Bundaberg women played in the grand final last year and have some outstanding talent.
The men will face an aptly named Bull in Willie Shackleford. Big Will is leading the League in scoring and rebounding
