In discussing the assembled squad, MCDFNL Senior Interleague Coach Luke Treacy said, “We’re really excited about the quality and the depth of the squad assembled. We’ve got several experienced interleague players in the squad plus some exciting new additions to the league, with a good mix of experience and youth.
“We’re also keeping an eye on other players coming back from injury and those new to the league that haven’t had much exposure, and we may include players to the squad should their form warrant it”
After its successful introduction in 2014, MCDFNL Senior Interleague Coaching staff have again added five Development Players to the squad, who have been recognized as future potential MCDFNL Interleague representatives, in Dunolly’s Matthew Gibbs, Natte Bealiba’s Trent Mortlock, Navarre’s Billy Parry and Newstead pair Michael Dalrymple and Joel Smith. These players will remain with the squad throughout the entire campaign to provide them with an experience that will help build future success for the MCDFNL Interleague program. Development players will be eligible for selection should their form warrant it just like any other player on the list, as was the case with Navarre’s Cody Driscoll and Newstead’s Ben Krol in 2014 who were selected in the initial squad as development players and both ended up playing in the match against the Geelong & District FNL
MCDFNL Operations Manager Scott Carey said, “After two rounds of local football, there has been a large number of players across all clubs who have put their hands up to be part of the initial squad which will commence training this Wednesday 29th April at Princes Park in Maryborough from 6:30pm, with one extra training session than last year. We’re really excited about the challenge ahead of us and can’t wait for Saturday May 23rd to show the football world how strong our league is.”
Training schedule for the campaign will be as follows, with players requested to wear their club jumpers to the first training session. If selected players are unavailable to attend training, please call coach Luke Treacy on 0434 633 289:
