Moama's reserves team was comprehensively defeated in its second semi-final clash against Mulwala on Saturday and its premiership hopes rest with a preliminary final clash against in-form arch-rival Echuca United this week.
The Magpies only had seven scoring shots for the match _ compared with the Lions' 27 _ and only one goal in total in the first, third and fourth quarters.
The signs were ominous early for Moama with the first term seeing Mulwala, who had finished on top of the ladder undefeated in the home-and-away season, with only the Lions' inaccuracy seeing them hold just a 24-point lead at the first change.
However, the Magpies fought back in the second quarter to be right in the hunt at half-time after kicking four goals to three, 18 points in arrears.
Unfortunately, it all went downhill for Moama after the long break, unable to improve on its first term as Mulwala blasted an inefficient 3.7 to nothing for the quarter.
No relief was coming in the final term either as each side kicked one goal to complete the 45-point drubbing.
Kyle Phipps was the team's only multiple goal-kicker with two, while Andrew McIntosh, Quinton Bourke and James Mulvahill each added one.
The side's best were Matt Rickards, Bourke, Paul Nevill, Mulvahill, Kyran Kelly and Brayden Jones.
The team must now regroup as it looks ahead to a testing encounter against United in Numurkah on Saturday
