Numurkah’s Adam Laidlaw, Shane “Wiggy” Miller, Jason Collins and Liam Gledhill recently celebrated milestone achievements.
Jason Collins notched up his 100th senior match for the Blues against Nathalia in Round 5, match played at Nathalia. Jason has played all his grassroot footy at Numurkah progressing through to make his senior debut in 2003 against rival club Nathalia. Jason has been a magnificent player for the Blues starting out as a bank flanker and has progressed through to the midfield and centre half back. He is renowned for his courage around the packs. He gained a Best and Fairest award for the club in 2004 and was an interleague MFL representative for 2 years.
All four players ran through a banner at Katunga Recreation Reserve last Saturday against Cobram, match played at Katunga.
Shane “Wiggy” Miller notched up his 100th milestone match against Deniliquin in Round 11, match played at Deniliquin. Shane played all his junior footy with Lara Football Club (Geelong) before joining the Blues. His senior debut was alongside fellow team-mate Jason Collins against Nathalia in 2003. Originally playing in the back pocket he has matured into a reliable onballer. Shane was also an MFL interleague representative on one occasion.
Adam Laidlaw celebrated his 150th senior milestone against Congupna in Round 7, match played at Congupna. Adam has played all his grassroot footy at Strathmerton before joining Numurkah and starting his senior career in 1999. Adam started at the club in the ruck or in forward line before progressing into the position at centre half back.
Liam Gledhill notched up his 150th milestone game alongside Jason Collins at Nathalia in Round 5, match played at Nathalia. Liam has played all his junior footy with Numurkah, he was lured to Mordialloc in the Southern Football League in 2001 for 1½ years. As an outstanding junior he was nominated for Rookie of the Year in 1999 (Deniliquin’s Andrew May taking out the award). Liam made his senior debut in 1998 starting out in the wing or on a half forward flank and currently plays at either centre half forward or centre half back. A major key forward player for the Blues. Liam was a premiership player in Numurkah’s victory against Deniliquin in 2000, and has bagged a few leading goal kicking awards for the club over the years.
Jason, Shane and Liam are all former joint captains of the Blues whereas Adam is the current Vice Captain for the ’09 season.
All four players are popular and valued contributors for the Blues.
