During Training

 

As mentioned earlier, the club is run by volunteers. We recommend that at least two parents be present during training sessions. Not only will you provide valuable assistance in case of emergency, you will also have the opportunity of observing your child/children practice and provide active support in her/their endeavours.

 

Attending the trainings will enable you to identify what support she/they may need if you wish to give them additional training at home, whether physical or just by giving moral support. If no two parents can attend on a regular basis, the parents among themselves must devise a roster that will ensure that at least two parents are present to assist.

 

During Friday Night games

The same recommendations as that of training sessions apply to Friday night games. Moreover, additional parent involvement is greatly encouraged during the games as this is held at the Duncan McKinnon Reserve – a different environment to those with training sessions held in Oakleigh South Primary School. Depending on your team’s schedule and the roster provided by CDNA, you as parents will have the added responsibility of having to set-up courts, attend to canteen duty or pack-up courts on different occasion. Fixtures and Duty rosters are available at the CDNA website. Parental involvement is a key factor to the success of any child’s endeavour.

 

Team Manager

It is highly recommended that every team designates a team manager. The duties of a team manager are very simple – you do not need to have any experience with netball. It involves creating a scorer and duty roster at the start of the season, sending out the roster to all the parents and acting as a communication link for the team. It is essential for the coach and team manager to have contact details of all parents in their teams. The Team Manager position is usually changed on an annual basis but it depends on what you as member parents decide on.
