Ensuring the Sydney Metro Blues finished the regular season on top of the ladder with three wins in Round 5, Georgia Munro-Cook’s performances have earned her the Player of the Week.

She recorded a double-double against the Stars in their second contest of the weekend and came close to a triple-double in all three games to finish with an average of 16.3 points, nine rebounds and 8.7 assists.

Her work at the defensive end was just as impressive, averaging 2.7 steals and collecting a block against the Flames on Sunday.

The weekend started well as Sydney Metro defeated the Comets by 34 points on Friday night, extending their lead at every break.

Munro-Cook was quiet for the opening of the contest but in the final four minutes of the first term, she recorded the last eight points for the Blues as they moved ahead by eight.

She then showcased her hot hand with a three-pointer in the second term as the Blues took full control of the contest.

In the second half, she came close to a triple-double with three assists down the stretch but fell just short to collect 17 points, seven rebounds, nine assists and three steals for the game.

The following day, Munro-Cook came off the bench against the Stars but her 27 minutes were extremely efficient as she tallied 23 points, 17 boards, seven assists and two steals.

Those steals helped the Blues to a 40-3 advantage in points off turnovers while her seven dimes was a game-high for the second consecutive contest and saw her contribute 37 points to her team’s total of 82.

On Sunday against the Flames, Munro-Cook was in a sharing mood again as she collated ten assists and while her services were not as required offensively, scoring just nine points, she hit another three to cap off an impressive shooting display for the weekend.

With those ten assists, she finished with 26 ioverall n Round 5 and only four turnovers. That ability to take care of the ball is sure to create concerns for opposition teams when they head into the finals next fortnight as the Blues do not give up many easy points off mistakes.

Holding the Flames to 43 points in their clash as well, Munro-Cook’s defence was just as solid with another three steals while she recorded a block on Sydney Uni’s second last possession.

Round 5 Stats: 16.3 points on 22-45 (49%) shooting including 2-5 three-point shooting, nine rebounds (one offensive), 8.7 assists, 2.7 steals and just 1.3 turnovers per game.
