Sideline Eye - Round 7 Preview
VAWDON CUP MEN’S PREMIER LEAGUE
ROUND 7 PREVIEW
Well yet another week my touch friends and another twist & turn in our MPL competition. I have changed my mind 7 times in 3 weeks on who will be last team standing.
No doubt I will change it again after this week. Below is a sneak preview as to how the Sideline Eye thinks your team will go in Round 7.
HORNSBY LIONS v PARRAMATTA EELS – PARRAMATTA F1 7.50PM
Do not be surprised if you still see Bus and his boys looking in to space or simply at each other this week in disbelief. What happened last Friday night??? A 13-4 defeat at the hands of the Panthers has left the Eels with many questions that will need to be answered very quickly.
The Lions are rolling along nicely and after a tough first half v Manly they came home very strong for an 8-2 victory.
Get set touch heads the personal dual between Hennessey & Rangi will be an absolute cracker.
Your Sideline Eye is tipping an improved performance from the Eels but not sure it will be enough to stop the Lions looking to secure a top 2 position.

EASTS ROOSTERS v CANTERBURY BULLDOGS – TEMPE F1 7.50PM
The question here is how the Roosters will react to their first defeat in 2010. Add to this Sonda is suspended & Frost unavailable due to Australian Mixed Open commitments. This is a huge test for Coach Wade Jenkins and come 8.45pm Friday night we will all have a much clearer view on what this team is really made of.
Well I keep hearing how the dogs are struggling, had its day, tired, unfit blah blah. Do not be mistaken fans they are in 3rd spot and are a huge chance of a top 2 finish. Roberts, Bird, Prowse, Willoughby & Brierty …Do I need to go on..?
Your Sideline Eye is tipping a torrid 1st half with no love lost (make no mistake both sides want this one badly). The Doggies to come home strong & win by a couple.

WESTS MAGPIES v PENRITH PANTHERS – TEMPE F1 9.30PM
Nearly 12 months ago to the day my friends, same field & same time and we all witnessed one of the great MPL Grand Finals in many years. It does not surprise me one little bit that these two teams are sitting 1 & 2 on the table again at the business end of the season.
The Magpies bounced back from a defeat like all champion teams do with a super win vs. the undefeated Roosters last Friday. The performance from Trady’s boy’s smacked of desperation & courage which we all know they have in bucket loads.
As for the opposition well, well, well who opened the cage & let the cranky Panthers out. One word for them last Friday – brilliant. No more flying under the radar for Dave Collins and his young team, they are the real deal “Big Time”.
These two powerhouse teams never disappoint and always put on a hard tough clash and this should be no different. Your Sideline Eye can again see this in the balance with 10 minutes to go before the Panther express keeps rolling on.

VARSITY STINGERS V ACT PHOENIX – PARRAMATTA F4 8.40PM
Well Varsity fans this is your teams moment of truth..!! No more excuses. Nothing but a competitive performance will be enough this week. Fresh from the bye and all players back from UNI games this is a huge opportunity to post your first win for the season.
As for my mates down in Canberra well you can all feel proud of your performance last Friday night. The Phoenix really took it to the Dogs and was very unlucky not to go in at oranges 3-3. The Dogs kicked clear in the 2nd half but boy’s how much easier is it with 12 or 13 players??
Your Sideline Eye is tipping an upset with the Stingers to come out all fired up and to steal it in a close one.

Good luck to all teams this Friday night. Make sure you get out to a game as the top 6 teams meet each other. What a great night of touch awaits.
Always watching…..The Sideline Eye
