Newbies Tasmania had their work cut out for them in their final game of their first National Women’s championships. ACT wanted to put to bed any doubts that they should be playing off in the Grand Final.
ACT’s midfield were dominant and merciless in their approach to the ball. Tassie’s endeavour couldn’t be questioned but the scoreline was 11 goals 6 points to Tassie’s solitary goal at half time aminly due to the efforts of Demant, O'Dea and McIntosh.
The third term saw the nifty Tassie players try to penetrate their forward line. At times their feet were too fast for their hands and whilst bursting away from ACT players, they bounced the ball, over ran it and turned the ball over. ACT on the other hand were clean with their hands and sure with their overhead marks.
It was a battle of the 50s in the final quarter. Tassie tackled hard but were unable to dispossess ACT because the girls from the Capital had numbers at the ball to pick up the crumbs. Inside 50s were pretty even but ACT's greater accuracy by hand and foot proved the difference over the inexperienced but galant Taswegians.
ACT now play NSW in a derby showdown for the division 2 Grand Final.
