ANZAC Day is a national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand that broadly commemorates all Australians and New Zealanders "who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations" and "the contribution and suffering of all those who have served." Observed on 25 April each year, Anzac Day was originally to honour the members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who fought at Gallipoli against the Ottoman Empire during World War I.
Australian Football clubs across the country acknowledge this day of remembrance in their own ways. Here are a few events that you might want to look up if you're feeling a bit homesick or just want to get involved.

2nd Annual ANZAC Day Friendly: High Park Demons vs. Toronto Central Blues
It's not just Collingwood and Essendon that do their part to commemorate the fallen on ANZAC Day.
On the other side of the world, the High Park Demons and the Toronto Central Blues take turns hosting each other for a clash of their own. A friendly, primarily intended to get the year's crop of rookies a taste of footy before the season begins in earnest, is becoming a much-anticipated affair!
Following the session, we'll head to Rails and Ales on Danforth for refreshments. Come one come all to meet the clubs and even have a run. Strangers/new recruits welcome! Just bring $5 to show your support of the Royal Canadian Legion - 100% of money collected will be donated.
