Ode to the Spinners by Scott Boland. Rollerblaze Poet Laureate.

We went to the tournament, known as the Spinners.
Even those who lost, are all still winners.
Some people stepped up, and some others fell.
One girl dislocated her arm, and her hip as well.
But she played on, no slowing her down.
She got straight back up, after she hit the ground.
I fell out too, but only one time.
No dislocations, I was in my prime.
Some shots went in, while other shots missed.
If I scored then I'd smile, if I missed I was pissed.
The games were all tough, at times I needed a break.
So in between games, I'd have a sandwich with steak.
It may not be smart, to play on a full belly.
And try shooting baskets, while arms felt like jelly.
Beers in the arvo, to relax with the team.
A swim in the pool, we were living the dream.
Now it's all over, one more year to wait.
Our team will improve, a gold would be great.
So thanks to all, who made it so fun.
To me your all champs, every one won.
Today was a day, to relax the muscles.
Let skin grow back, and no more ball tussles.
We all stepped up our game, when the time beckoned.
We rolled away with silver, a respectable second.
So I'll see you all at Classics, hope I've improved my shot.
Thank God that's in winter, so it won't be so hot.
Got some new blisters, and even a graze.
But that's all part of the fun, with Rollerblaze.
Now I'll sign off, there's no reason to squawk.
I'll finish off strong, one more "tommo HAWKS".
