High Performance NITP/NPP
The National Performance Program (NPP) is designed to assist Basketball Australia to identify athletes who are members of, or on the fringe selection of, National Junior Teams. The Victorian NPP will be held during September to May on a Sunday afternoon at the State Basketball Centre and be coached by elite coaches also involved with, or on the fringe of, National team selections. Additional trainings are scheduled for athletes who have to contend with travel, family or other commitments.
Underpinning the NPP is the National Intensive Training Program (NITP). The NITP is separate to State Team selection. The NITP will work with around 10-15 Metro and 8-10 Country identified athletes in the under 16 and 18 women's and mens age groups. These athletes shall work under the new Basketball Victoria HP curriculum. Country NITP athletes shall work with identified coaches under the direction of the High Performance Coach Country in regional satellite hubs and at regular combined training camps, whilst the Metro NITP athletes shall work alongside the NPP on Sunday afternoons (2-4pm) at the State Basketball Centre under the direction of the High Performance Coach Metro.
Specific Dates for 2014/15 are:
Country: 1st August 2014 - 30 June 2015
Metro: 1 October 2014 - 31 May 2015
