South Australian James Triosi has been called up to the Qantas Socceroos 2014 FIFA World Cup Asian Qualifier at ANZ Stadium against Oman tomorrow night – Tuesday 11 October 2011, Kick-Off 7.30pm AEDT.
Speaking at the official pre-match media conference today, Qantas Socceroos Head Coach Holger Osieck is expecting a tough encounter but will be preparing his team for victory.
“We can forget about whatever happened in the past, tomorrow is they game and we have to fully focus on that. That is what we are going to do.
“The qualification has not come to an end. All teams in our group still have the chance to go through.
“So that makes every game difficult because all teams will go for the three points. They try to get the utmost out of it and that is what I am expecting tomorrow as well.
“A victory is a victory, there is never an excuse for a victory and we go for that tomorrow,” concluded Osieck
Qantas Socceroos captain Lucas Neill is also expecting a tough game against Oman tomorrow, but believes that his team is up for the challenge.
“We know they’re very difficult, we know they can cause problems because of the pace that they have. With their speed they can break on the counter.
“We have to be playing to our potential, or as close to our potential as possible on the night, otherwise we could find ourselves in an embarrassing situation.
“Are we ready? Of course we’re ready this is the reason we have come back to play this game.
“We had a good hit out on Friday night. Everybody has confidence, everybody wants to play and we have goal that is to qualify out of this group which means we have to win games,” concluded Neill.
Also present at the official pre-match media conference was the NSW Minister for Tourism and Major Events, George Souris, who welcomed the Qantas Socceroos back to Sydney for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Asian qualifier against Oman and was presented with a personalised Qantas Socceroos jersey by Lucas Neill.
“The NSW Government through Destination NSW is proud to support Football Federation Australia and the Qantas Socceroos on the Road to Brazil 2014, ensuring the biggest and best football matches are played in our State.
“As the world game, football is rightly a priority sport on the NSW Events Calendar, driving tourism, economic benefit and community pride across the State,” he said.
