Vanuatu to host the 2017 Pacific Mini Games

Vanuatu has won the right to host the 10th Pacific Mini Games in 2017 following a close victory against Northern Mariana Islands and Nauru at the Pacific Games Council's General Assembly on 4 September 2011.

In the first round of voting the 22 Pacific Games Asscoations (PGAs) voted as follows: Vanuatu 8, Northern Mariana Islands 8, Nauru 6.  With Nauru thereby eliminated, a second ballot was held in which Vanuatu prevailed over Northern Mariana Islands by 13 votes to 9.

This will be Vanuatu's second opportunity to stage this prestigious event after it hosted the 2nd South Pacific Mini Games in 1993.

Immediately upon the announcement of Vanuatu's victory a host city contract was signed by the Vanuatu Deputy Prime Minister, the President of the Vanuatu PGA, Antoine Boudier, and Vidhya Lakhan on behalf of the Pacific Games Council.

Congratulations Vanuatu and good luck!
