Last week the GDF SUEZ ETP Under 16 Boy’s team travelled to the Central Coast Mariners for a trip of a lifetime. The team lived the life of a professional footballer for the week thanks to former Morwell player and Central Coast Mariners captain John Hutchinson, the ambassador of the program.

The boys watched the senior team training sessions during the week, played against the Central Coast Mariners junior academy teams – going down 6-0 - and had the privilege to meet the senior playing group.

To top off the trip they watched Central Coast Mariners defeat Western Sydney Wanderers 1-0, In Hutchinson last home game for the Central Coast Mariners ashe retires. John’s last game for the Mariners is against Melbourne Victory at AAMI Park on Sunday 26th of April at 5pm.

Throughout the week John took time to pass on his experiences and educate the boys in what it takes to be a professional footballer. GDF SUEZ ETP Under 16 Headcoach, Michael McAuley said “John is a great example of a boy from the countrywho worked hard to live the dream and play professional football”. John as the ambassador of the program would love nothing more than a player from

Gippsland to follow in his footsteps and play in the A-League. Something he is immensely proud of.

The program is in its infancy but Technical Director Mark Cassar intends to make it an annual event to inspire players to play at the highest level.
