Olympic FC commenced their 2015 pre-season campaign with a 3-2 win over Peninsula Power at A.J. Kelly Park in Redcliffe on Saturday.

Rhys Meredith opened the scoring for last year’s PS4 NPL Queensland runners-up, guiding his shot into the top left corner of the goal on the half hour.

Olympic held the single goal margin until half-time despite a nervous moment for goalkeeper Brandon Cuminao late in the half, scrambling to prevent a Power attempt from crossing the goal line.

The hosts levelled terms after the break courtesy of Steven Cleary before Meredith netted his second of the match to restore Olympic’s advantage shortly after.

Meredith was substituted for Mustafa Jafari on 70 minutes, with the young striker netting his first goal of 2015 within a minute of taking the field.

Power again pulled a goal back through Doug Brown with 12 minutes remaining to ensure a tight finish to the contest but proved unable to find an equaliser.

Olympic are pencilled in to continue their pre-season preparations against Gold Coast Premier League side Surfers Paradise Apollo next Sunday.
