Two goals at the death for Eastern Suburbs have rescued a point against Souths United at Heath Park on Saturday evening.

Souths led until final kick of the game, as Easts completed a stunning comeback in the blink of an eye.

A fast-paced and attacking first half brought about no goals, before the game opened up in the second half.

Deanna Thompson opened the scoring for the visitors just before the hour mark before Kirsten McGilvray doubled the advantage just three minutes later.

Chances soon began to dry up as an enticing midfield battle intensified.

The visitors appeared destined to take the points before Eloise Wadsworth handed the hosts a lifeline in the shadows of full-time.

A miraculous comeback was complete two minutes later, as Jessica Gibson got the better of a defender before coolly slotting home to restore parity with the final kick of the game.

Souths remain in fourth position, three points behind Easts who now face second-placed The Gap.
