The PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Finals Series race remains tight after Round 18 delivered mixed results for clubs with post-season ambitions.

Brisbane Roar FC Youth  1 (Sam SIBATUARA 61’)
Moreton Bay United FC  0

Moreton Bay United’s premiership hopes suffered a setback after falling to a narrow 1-0 defeat to Brisbane Roar Youth at Perry Park on Saturday.

A second half strike from Sam Sibatuara proved decisive for Young Roar as they recorded their first win since June to end a four match losing streak.

The result sees Jets remain in second place in the PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland standings, a point behind Brisbane Strikers but still with a game in hand.

SWQ Thunder FC  1 (Keagan SHERIDAN 65’p)

Palm Beach SC remain in the hunt for a top four finish after comfortably seeing off SWQ Thunder 5-1 at Mallawa Complex on Saturday.

Sharks raced to a four goal advantage prior to the hour courtesy of Kristian Rees, Joshua Riis, Eoghan Murphy and Roman Hofmann, before Ethan Grimley wrapped up the result in time added on.

The result consigned Thunder to a 16th straight PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland defeat, while Sharks move three points off fourth place with matches in hand on their rivals.

Brisbane City FC  3 (Anthony POLJAK 27’, Antonio MURRAY 35’, Mat BIGGINS 70’)
Northern Fury FC  2 (Sean KARAMBASIS 16’ 66’)

Brisbane City recorded their first home win since May overcoming a late send-off to defeat Northern Fury 3-2 at Corporate Travel Management Stadium on Saturday.

Sean Karambasis struck a goal in each half for Fury but it wasn’t enough to overcome goals from City’s Anthony Poljak, Antonio Murray and Mat Biggins.

The result deals a significant blow to Fury’s fading hopes of a top four finish with the Townsville-based club dropping to eighth in the PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland standings.

Alex Smith and Jamie Gosling struck goals in the final half-hour to secure Heat their third consecutive three points and move to regain fifth spot in the PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland standings.

The result sees Pride’s hopes of first ever Finals Series appearance fading rapidly, with the club dropping to ninth with five matches remaining.
