Brisbane Roar Youth are back to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over Redlands United FC at the Cleveland Showgrounds on Saturday afternoon.

Two early goals in each half saw Young Roar's Abraham Yango and Nicholas D'Agostino bag their seventh goals of the season and hand the bayside team their first defeat in ten matches.

The result won't change the Finals Series picture however as the Red Devils booked their spot earlier in the week, while Young Roar move into fifth with a game still to play against Palm Beach SC next Wednesday.

Yango opened the account for the home side inside two minutes after making space in the box to connect with Patrick Theodore's cross.

Young Roar created a number of chances within the opening 20 with D'Agostino, Adam Sawyer and Austin Ludwik all attempting to get past Redlands' Sam Chandler in goals.

Chandler proved up for the challenge on his Senior debut, twice producing crucial saves - the first a long range effort from Theodore before diving at D'Agostino's feet to smother any further attempts on goal.

Redlands got their first shot away in the 24th minute when Player/Coach Graham Fyfe cut through Young Roar's defence only to be thrawted by an oncoming Tomislav Bilic in goals.

Still on the attack, Jaydan Prasad looked to hand the visitors an equliser five minutes later when he struck from 35 yards out however Bilic got enough to it to tip the shot over the crossbar.

Coming into the second half Young Roar looked to run away with the game after Yango turned provider for D'Agostino who buried his shot from just inside the box.

It didn't take long for Redlands' to reply as debutant Tyler Bradley-Combes picked out an umarked Prasad a minute later, who slotted home his first senior goal since April.

Both teams each had another opportunty to score with both Bilic and Chandler leaping into action to keep the score at 2-1.

Speaking post match, Young Roar's Nicholas D'Agostino said he was pleased with how his side has continuted to improve over the season.

"We had a tough start but we've really pulled through, had some good training sessions and improved a lot which is really starting to show through," D'Agostino said.

Redlands' Graham Fyfe while disappointed to not get a win going into the finals was happy with the way his young players stepped up today.

"I think there were a few players that were a bit naive at the start but once we started to get the flow we played a little bit better and the boys tried everything they could," Fyfe said.
