Moreton Bay United will get a pre-Christmas jump on their title defence with their first pre-season match on Saturday in Logan.

The PlayStation® 4 NPL Queensland 2015 Premiers and Champions will face Brisbane Premier League outfit Logan Lightning.

Jets are yet to announce a head coach for next season, however previous coach Adam Piddick will be among those on hand to guide the team in his new role of Technical Director.

While Jets have been prolific recruiters this off-season and already announced 15 members of their 2016 squad, Piddick said the club will field several triallists looking to push for a place in the team next season.

“When you go into these games you don’t want to get beat but it’s more about if anyone stands out and says 'pick me in the squad’ pretty much,” Piddick explained.

He added, “We’re going to take a big squad of about 19 or 20 players and there will be as many as ten first team players that won’t be there.”

“There are some triallists we want to look at and we want to see what they can do against a well-organised team and a team that will go out and try to play football.”

Lightning have proved a popular opponent in early pre-season fixtures, going down 3-1 to Jets’ PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland rivals Gold Coast City last weekend.
