Carlton Westerdale's late winner secured a 2-1 victory for Redlands United over Brisbane City at the Cleveland Showgrounds on Friday night.

The loss is a devastating blow to City's Finals Hopes, and a win this weekend (or next) from either Western Pride or Moreton Bay Jets would knock the Newmarket side out of contention.

The home side threatened throughout the match and took the lead through Graham Fyfe's fifth goal of the season.

City did create chances of their own and Alexander Fiechtner eventually equalised with 20 minutes remaining.

Redlands were not content to settle for a point, as Westerdale popped up in the dying stages to claim the win for the Red Devils.

City host Sunshine Coast FC next Saturday in a potential dead rubber, while Redlands close out their season away to Brisbane Roar Youth.

Key Moments

13’ CHANCE REDLANDS: A combination play between Mikey Dalton and Carlton Westerdale sees a chance on goal, but goalkeeper has it covered.

27’ GOAL REDLANDS - Adam Chandler plays the ball into the box and Graham Fyfe’s shot hits the inside of the post and goes in.

28’ CHANCE REDLANDS - Westerdale hits a rocket of a shot but keeper reacts in time to get to the ball.

70' GOAL CITY - A ball is drifted into the near post and Alexander Fiechtner heads home.

87’ GOAL REDLANDS - A through ball is played and the ball rebounds from a deflection, Westerdale puts it in the back of the net.
