Tuggeranong Hawks’ veteran Ashley Pocock is currently enjoying career best form and maintains belief that Tuggeranong can go all the way this season.

The Hawks forward is now second in the league’s top goal scorers, with the club sitting firmly on the ladder in third position.
After four games Pocock has been lethal in front of goal, kicking 16 goals, with eight of them coming against Eastlake in round three. Yet he played down his chances of kicking a big bag this weekend against Gunghalin.
“With the potential we got running around in our forward line, it’s very hard pressed to find a good spread of defenders that can shut down our entire spread,” Pocock said.
“I may not get that many but someone else will pop up and kick a handful”, Pocock said.
Pocock maintains the club is optimistic about their chances this season but admits they can still improve a few aspects of their game.
“Within our own group we have no doubt that we can achieve the ultimate success this year.”
Since the club hasn’t achieved much success in the past, the players are mindful of complacency creeping into their game.
“Throughout the year I’d say we would be hoping to really stamp our authority on games and finish them off”, Pocock said.
Last year Pocock notched up his 200th league game through a small stint with Eastlake. Having played most of his footy with the Hawks, he acknowledged it was good to gain experience at another club.
“It was good, gave me a different perspective on the way a footy club is run.”
“They’re obviously aren’t strapped for cash, so it was just a lot of the little conveniences that you didn’t have to pay for out of your own pocket were there ready to go”, Pocock said.
With the veteran Hawk getting to the back end of his career he admitted that keeping his body in good condition is the key to prolonging his career. Saying he will continue to play “as long as my body lets me”.
