Beenleigh took out the State Association Div2 Grand Final in fine style at Wynnum on Saturday. Getting off to a slow start, the Buffaloes went into the first break one goal down. The second quarter saw Beenleigh take control, kicking four goals six behinds to Robina's one goal two. With only sixteen points separating the two teams at the long break, it was anyone's game in the second half. Robina did the better in the third quarter, pegging the difference back to ten points at three quarter time. With the game poised to go either way in the last quarter, it was game on for the last twenty five minutes. Beenleigh out muscled Robina to kick eight goals eight behinds to three goals, to take the game by forty two points at the siren.
In the reserve grade Grand Final Robina made it back to back wins, defeating Beenleigh by sixty seven points. In a one sided affair Beenleigh were outclassed by a very polished Robina outfit. Beenleigh left it to the last game of the season to put in a bad one, said the disappointed Beenleigh President, they were just not in the race. I think the Buffaloes had their sights on the big prize in the late game.
Congratulations to both clubs on their success this season.
