Lions to strong for Roos in Reserves Final

Lions thrash lacklustre Roos
SIX goals from 17-year-old forward Luke Vivian highlighted Palm Beach-Currumbin’s demolition job on Maroochy-Northshore in the Pineapple Hotel Cup reserve grade grand final at Fisherman’s Road on Saturday.
Vivian’s immaculate haul earned him best-on-ground honours after the Lions smashed the home side by 21.14 (140) to 6.6 (42) in one of the most lopsided results in division two grand-final history.
The writing was on the wall early, when PBC led 6.0 to 2.4 at quarter-time. Four goals to one in the second term opened up a sizeable gap, which then blew out to a three-quarter time scoreline of 16.8 to 4.6 – the Lions 74 points up and cruising.
While Vivian was particularly prominent up front, the Lions had any number of star support acts, none the least on-baller Adam McDonald, Clint Schneider, Matt Derrick, Jhye Pearson and Alex Hombsch.
That list includes some promising talent, highlighting the fact that PBC have blooded several of them in seniors of late in a good sign for the club’s future.
Outclassed Maroochy had the competition’s leading goalkicker Adam Thornton (3.1) as their best. Chris Abraham, Declan Magill and Heath Mahoney also tried hard to quall the tide.
