Toea Wisil added the 60m to her list of National records whilst competing at the Gold coast recently. Wisil who already holds the 200m and 400m records clocked a time of 7.46 seconds in the 60m to eclipse the record of 7.48 seconds run by Mae Koime in Brisbane seven years ago. Nelson Stone announced his intentions for 2014 with a strong comeback to racingin Brisbane last weekend with an impressive 21.68 seconds clocking in the 200m in his first competition for eight months.
2013 was a year that Stone would like to forget, as two separate hamstring injuries ruined his season. However there were no signs of that as he warmed up with a 100m in 10.86 secs and then ran an excellent 200m. Stone is now looking forward to the Queensland Championships next month and the Australian National championships at the beginning of April. Betty Burua was also in action last weekend clocking a personal best 24.81 secs in the 200m following on from a 39.54 sec clocking in the 300m a few days earlier.
