Notice to all participating Athletes and Teams
Invitation is now open for National Associations and interested clubs to attend the 54th National Athletics Championships in Lae from 17 – 19 April. The competition will comprise of Under 18 and Open divisions. Sprint races will be conducted for Under 16, subject to number of entries per event; otherwise athletes will be placed in the U18 race.
The championship will commence on Friday afternoon at 15.30 with heats in the 400m.
Entries must be submitted to Philip Rehder on fax 472 1358 or email prehder@global.net.pg no later than Friday 10 April. Entries may be submitted in the form of a simple list showing the athletes name, date of birth and the event they are to contest. Any athletes with no DOB showing will be entered in the Open division.
Entry fees will be K10.00 for first event and K5 second and each subsequent event. Affiliation fee is K200 per association and those centers or clubs not affiliated to APNG, a K100 team nomination fee will apply. All fees may be deposited to the PNGAU account – ANZ Lae Account number 624 406 and copy of the deposit receipt be sent to Philip on above contact details. Entry fees are NON REFUNDABLE in the event that an athlete does not compete for whatever reason.
Entries must be submitted before the deadline. Any late nominations may only be accepted at the discretion of APNG and if accepted, will attract a late fee of K10.00 per athlete in addition to the usual fees.
Teams should arrive in Lae no later than mid-day Friday in order for Team Leaders to attend the Technical Meeting, which is scheduled for 1.00 PM Friday at the stadium.
The Technical Meeting will, amongst other competition matters, be to re-confirm entries and withdraw athletes who will not compete. This will enable Start Lists to be drawn up well in advance of event time and facilitate smooth running of the competition. Attendance at the TM will ensure Team Leaders receive the latest information about the conduct of the championships including rules and final timetable of events.
Additional information relating to organizing of the event and competition timetable will be posted on the APNG website as well as updates in the two daily papers.
