Coburg has announced former Williamstown mentor Peter German as its senior coach for the 2014 Peter Jackson VFL season.
The 185-game North Melbourne veteran will take charge of the Lions as they enter a new era as a stand alone club.
German, who was at the helm of Williamstown in his role as a development coach with the Western Bulldogs, has extensive experience.
He led Subiaco to the 2004 & 2006 WAFL premierships and has also been an assistant coach at Hawthorn, Fremantle and the West Coast Eagles.
Under German’s guidance, Williamstown reached the preliminary final this year where it was eventually defeated by Geelong.
“It is an exciting time for Coburg and myself as we head into a new era,” German said.
Coburg failed to reach the finals this season, their final year in an alignment with Richmond.
