PETER FAULKS
Age: 22
Clubs: Casey Scorpions, Williamstown
Games: 26

Honours: VFL representative 2010
SEVERAL factors led to Peter Faulks calling Point Gellibrand his football home in season 2010.
One was the reduction in travel time and associated angst in not having to jump on the ‘maddening Monash’ freeway a couple of times a week.
Faulks said the 155 km round trip to Casey a couple of times a week coupled with spending up to three hours negotiating the brutal traffic congestion in the end took its toll.
He said he enjoyed his season with the Scorpions and close mates James Wall and Ryan McGough still play at Casey, but Williamstown is so much closer to home and then there was the Peter German factor.
Faulks doesn’t mask his admiration for German who coached him at Casey last year and was instrumental in enticing him to Williamstown.
“Pete (German) had a lot to do with it, too,” Faulks said.
“He is a fantastic coach. I could not speak highly enough of Pete and what he’s done for my football and just the way he challenges you.
“He really gets the best out of you, which is great and he has Pete has a great coaching staff at Williamstown.
“I don’t want to let him down any week. I’m really comfortably there, I’m playing okay football and importantly the club is going along well.”
Faulks, one of the pivots in the Scorpions unexpected surge last season to the finals, hasn’t missed a beat since becoming a Seagull.
Not only did he gain selection for the VFL against West Australia last month, but was one of the better players.
For Faulks it was a career highlight. “It was a great honour. There is probably no bigger thing than pulling on a big V jumper, I was stoked to play in that match,” he said.
“We really gelled together and once we put the jumper on we all strived for that one thing – a one hit mission and we went over there and did it, which was great.”
With the spotlight shining more brightly on VFL players with AFL recruiters finally acknowledging the competition as an untapped mine field, Faulks, who spent two years on Sydney Swans list, is among a rich crop of prospects.
Seagulls general manager Brendan Curry has no doubt that Faulks still has a lot to offer an AFL club. “He’s a big man and he’s very athletic. He’s a very good player,” Curry said.
