60 games played in one day

Although the rain on Friday dampened the spirits of the players and officials, Saturday turned out to the biggest basketball day in the life of the Lautoka courts.

Almost 60 games of basketball were played over 15 hours to decide the 2006 Champions. The decision by Basketball Fiji to bring the National Championships to Lautoka in 2006 was confirmed as the right one, when 2 women and 1 men's Lautoka teams made it to the final four.

The decision by Basketball Fiji to bring the Championships to the west was confirmed with great spectator interest and excellent media coverage. Many fans travelled from Suva to support their teams, swelling the crowds on both days.

Congratulations to Basketball Fiji officials Lydia Sokosoko, Joe Tamani, Fanny Simpson and Kinijoji Sokosoko for their tireless work over the 2 day event. Referees and scoretable officials were in short supply, and the few volunteers who offered to do these jobs were exhausted by the end of the weekend.
