Young guns blaze away

THE only Raiwaqa team standing, the young, Mighty Mights gave the older more experienced teams a run for their money. They thumped last year's defending champs, Shaq Attaq, 34-3, in the quarter-finals to meet up against the 2008 Easter Champions, Lautoka Vikings.  The team had the likes of under-20 players, Isireli Vuetibau, Nathaniel Singh and Stan Cocker. "This was our aim to get as far as we could and to play every game as it comes," said Mights coach Saula Koroi. The Mights, however, were beaten in the semis by Vikings. Vikings won over Mights 43-38. With most of the players in the national Under-20 development team it will prove to be a great learning curve for them as they will be going to the FIBA Oceania Games in New Caledonia in October.
