Nainima's team wins

UNITED States of America-based Valerie Nainima guided Raiwaqa to gold medal victory in the final of the women's basketball at the multi purpose courts in Lautoka. Nainima awed the crowd with her skills to help Raiwaqa defeat Fiji Under-20 Blacks 42-35 in the final. Event coordinator Laisiasa Puamau said the standard of basketball was high. He said many fans came out to watch Nainima. "Valerie attracted the crowd," Puamau said. "Many people just turned up to the court to see her and she did not disappoint them. She really set the benchmark." In the bronze medal playoff, Fiji Under-20 Whites defeated Nadi All Stars 35-25. In the men's competition, Suva Blues beat Raiwaqa Reds 45-35 in the final. The Blues coached by Paul Whippy had too much firepower for their Raiwaqa counterparts to win the gold medal. In the bronze medal playoff, Fiji U20 Black downed host team Lautoka 45-23.
