Lai Puamau receives IOC/USOC Coaching Scholarship

Basketball Fiji's Development receives a Coaching Scholarship

Congratulations to Laisiasa Puamau, Basketball Fiji’s Development Officer and National U20 Youth Men’s Basketball Head Coach, who has been awarded a scholarship from the IOC and the US Olympic Committee to participate in the International Coaching Enrichment Program (ICECP).

Lai is fortunate in being one of the 30 global participants to be selected to undertake the year-long program.  This is the third time a participant from Fiji, and a first for Basketball Fiji to be selected so a great honour for Lai.

The ICECP is an English-speaking intensive educational program for coaches who may not have previously been able to benefit from educational programs requiring a longer time commitment. The course is targeted at national level coaches wishing to further their knowledge from experts in the field, implement change in their national coaching structure through a dedicated personal project and learn from other elite international coaches who will be attending the program.

Lai will travel to the University of Delaware and to the USOC Training Centre in Colorado Springs later in the year for the first sessions of the year-long program.
