Babarians Defeat champion Saints in Suva/Laucala League

 

Round 3 of the Suva/Laucala League Games Babarians lead by Laisasa Puamau & Earl Hughes defeated 2010 Easter & Suva Champions Saints in the feature match on Tuesday 15th February 2011 at the Vodafone Arena last night. Saints lead by inspiration National Men's Captain Leonard Whippy who is supported by brother Wayman and the Sikivou brother's Tui & Jese could not find an offensive rhythm as they were shut down by a older and experience Babarians outfit. Puamau top scored shooting 4 out 4 from 3 point and American Native Nash added 10 points with some solid post play. Babarians lead throughout the game and managed to outscore the Saints Club 49-41 to be the only undeafed team in the Suva/Laucala Competition. 10 men's basketball teams are currently registered in the competition. In other match new comers Baseliners lead by Waisele Suka defeated New Era and the Koli Matalau lead Idaman Club recorded accounted for the Frank Saketa Westpac team. The league games are held every week on Tuesday nights at the Vodafone Arena. Suva/Laucala Association President Leonard Whippy said that the competition is organized to get teams the much needed game time before the National Easter Basketball Championship and to identify the best clubs to represent the association at the Easter tournament which will be held on the 18th -23rd April 2011.
